This time we do not open on the guys making a call to a bride hours before the wedding, or flying to Thailand to get married. This time we start off with Jeffrey Tambor) whose heart just can’t take it anymore. Alan’s family and the Wolfpack decide that the only way to help is to send Alan to a rehab facility. Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), and (Justin Bartha) all agree to drive Alan to the facility which is located in Arizona. And this is where the story really begins.(Zach Galifiankis) up to his usual hijinks which causes major destruction and his father having to bail him out, which this time is the last for Sid (
Doug gets kidnapped by Marshall (John Goodman). Marshall wants The Wolfpack to locate Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong), due to Mr. Chow stealing some gold from Marshall and of course he wants it back along with Chow. If The Wolfpack does not find Mr. Chow he will kill Doug.
This movie greatly made up for Hangover II which was pretty much a rehash of the second one. Not to say that this movie is not taking some if not a lot of material from the first one as well. What we are not seeing is the whole I got drugged did some really stupid crap and now I have to figure out what the hell happened the night before and oh yea where is Doug. One we know where Doug is and why he is there. Two we see what The Wolfpack are doing to get their comrade back.
This movie is also about Alan’s growth as a person, having to deal with the loss of his father who is now not there to cover or help him out whenever he does something stupid and the fact that not everything he does is seen as funny to his friends. So you can say that this last journey is also Alan’s awakening to the real world and how he is going to cope with living in it.
Of course the two people who really steal the scenes are Alan and the over the top Mr. Chow. Whenever they are on-screen you just know they are going to do something completely crazy.
All in all this film does bring the trilogy full circle and gives us closer to The Wolfpack story. It was great seeing this movie also bring back many of those that had roles in the first one and give them some closer as well.
Also stay for the mid credit easter egg it is hilarious.
If you are a big fan of the Hangover franchise you have to see this movie if for nothing else than to have closer, but I think you will laugh yourself out of your seat. If you are a fan of hard R comedies you will want to see this movie. For those that do not like crude and rude comedies or just did not like Hangover at all than it will be a skip for you maybe pick it up when it comes out on blu ray or something.
